The secret to restoring your digestive health is all about balancing out the good and bad bacteria in your gut.
In order for you to be healthy, one of the most powerful things you can do is optimize and support the beneficial bacteria in your gut.
You can find probiotics in your food, and in my opinion, that is the best way to get them, but if you are not getting them from foods, you can supplement.
Probiotics influence many functions in your body, especially your immune health.
Researchers have also found they affect your body weight, energy and nutrient absorption, and your brain, both psychologically and neurologically.
WHAT ARE PROBIOTICS?
Probiotics are bacteria that line your digestive tract and support your body’s ability to absorb nutrients and fight infection.
If you are not consuming enough probiotics, there are numerous side effects which can include digestive disorders, skin issues, candida, autoimmune disease, and frequent colds and flus.

When your gut is healthy, you have a thriving population of beneficial bacteria, supporting your immune system, which largely impacts what goes on in your gut.
This is because 80 percent of our entire immune system is located in our gut.
Beneficial bacteria train your immune system to distinguish between non-harmful antigens and undesirable antigens, and to respond in a normal, appropriate way.
PROBIOTICS AID IN DIGESTION
Probiotics, or healthy bacteria, also help with digestion.
Fermented foods are especially rich in probiotic bacteria.
It’s a great natural replacement for probiotic pills or supplements because they contain so many probiotic strands.
Some other great sources include lassi, an Indian yogurt drink, kefir (fermented milk made from “grains” that are actually a mix of bacteria and yeast), or natto or fermented soy, and miso (whether you’re eating miso soup or cooking with miso paste, it’s full of probiotics).
Make sure to choose unpasteurized as the high-heat process destroys many if not all of the naturally occurring probiotics.

Your body needs beneficial gut bacteria to absorb certain undigested starches, fiber, and sugars in foods.
When you have a good balance of bacteria, you can efficiently convert these carbohydrates into valuable sources of nutrients and energy.
Additionally, probiotics promote mineral absorption from the foods you eat, while also helping to metabolizing and break down body wastes.
Clearly, probiotics benefit your health, they are essential for a diverse amount of bodily functions; research even suggests getting probiotics into your body may be even more important than taking a daily multivitamin.
Keep in mind that many of the nutrients you find in a multivitamin supplement, especially B vitamins, are made by beneficial bacteria in your gut.
